Toronto Vascular Institute (TVI)

What is TVI?

Established in 1985 by Dr. Ronald Colapinto, the Toronto Vascular Institute (TVI) is a private clinic devoted to the outpatient diagnosis and treatment of peripheral vascular disease.
  • TVI is the most active centre for balloon angioplasty of the legs in Canada (over 6,500 procedures). Dr. Colapinto was one of the first physicians to perform balloon angioplasty in Canada.
  • TVI conducts all types of angiograms (except cardiac). These include angiograms of the legs, abdomen, kidneys and brain. Since 1985, over 18,000 angiograms have been safely performed at TVI.
  • TVI has successfully treated many men suffering from male infertility by using the procedure called Testicular Vein Embolization.
  • TVI has now added the laser treatment of varicose veins in the legs (EVLT) to their list of procedures.
  • OHIP covers nearly all of TVI's procedures, so there is no cost to the patient.*
  • TVI is the only clinic in Canada performing angiographic procedures outside of a hospital setting.
  • The small size of TVI and the presence of a friendly, cheerful, and highly skilled staff help to create a relaxing, less intimidating atmosphere compared to the impersonality of most large hospitals.

* In 1992, TVI was fully funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health so all procedures performed at TVI involve no cost for Canadian patients, except for EVLT (laser treatment of varicose veins)
